Monitoring Biodiversity in London

At the 2024 Smart City World Congress in Barcelona, I joined Nicholas Turner, Data and Digital Lead at SHIFT London, to present how UCL and SHIFT London are using the Garnet Framework to monitor urban biodiversity.

Their innovative implementation integrates data from smart bat detectors into London's city-scale digital twin, enabling real-time monitoring of bat activity across the urban landscape. By combining this with data about city activities, researchers can better understand how urban life impacts wildlife populations, supporting more informed decisions for sustainable urban development.

During the congress, I also had the opportunity to present the Garnet Framework and its latest use cases at our partner Deloitte's booth, continuing our tradition of collaboration at this event.
