Creator of Garnet Framework

At this year's Smart City World Congress in Barcelona, I introduced the Garnet Framework to the global smart city community. It was a meaningful moment - just a year ago, I stood at the same Deloitte booth presenting its predecessor, the Smart Territory Framework. Now I was back to show how that initial vision has evolved.

During the demonstrations, I focused on how Garnet simplifies the creation of context-aware applications and digital twins. Built on open standards, the framework enables cities to avoid vendor lock-in while creating living digital representations of their systems - a foundation they can confidently build upon for years to come.

The conversations revealed rich insights about how cities approach their data and digital transformation. Rather than adding complexity, there's a clear need for tools that make sense of existing urban systems. From mobility data to environmental sensors, the focus remained on making data work for citizens in meaningful ways.

The smart city community's maturity in approaching digital transformation was evident throughout the congress. These interactions have sparked new ideas for Garnet's development as we continue to evolve the framework while maintaining our commitment to open standards.
